Baseball Game Preview: Monarch Knights vs. Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs

The Monarch Knights will head out on the road to take on the Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

Things were looking good for Monarch after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Taravella by a score of 4-3. The Knights have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meetings.

Monarch saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Juan Londono, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Dr. Joaquin Garcia ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over Suncoast. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.

Kyle Hirsch tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February.

At the plate, Dr. Joaquin Garcia let Ryan Lampman and Rocco Castrillon run wild. Lampman scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances, while Castrillon scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Lampman a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Blake Bagwell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Monarch, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.
