Basketball Game Preview: Kingston Cardinals vs. Mayville Wildcats

Kingston is a perfect 10-0 against Mayville since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cardinals challenge the Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. Kingston is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.2 points per game this season.

Last Friday, Kingston came up short against Deckerville and fell 59-47.

Despite the loss, Kingston had strong showings from Peyton Harrington, who posted 13 points in addition to eight boards and three steals, and Austin DeRoseau, who on his way to 15 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks. Harrington is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner James, who scored seven points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mayville beat Akron-Fairgrove 61-55 on Monday. The Wildcats haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Kingston's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-6. As for Mayville, their win bumped their record up to 8-15.

Everything came up roses for Kingston against Mayville when the teams last played last Tuesday, as the squad secured a 66-14 victory. Does Kingston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mayville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
