Softball Game Preview: Washington Huskies vs. Moreau Catholic Mariners

Washington is 1-9 against Moreau Catholic since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Huskies will welcome the Mariners at 4:00 p.m. Washington has given up an average of 8.9 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Washington is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game on Thursday. They lost 16-0 to Newark Memorial. That's two games in a row now that the Huskies have lost by exactly 16 runs.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Moreau Catholic). They were the clear victors by a 16-3 margin over Mission San Jose on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Mariners sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Jossi Jones was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Naomi Chen, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Moreau Catholic pushed their record up to 11-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Washington, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.
