Baseball Recap: Kouts Picks Up Fourth Straight Win on the Road

Kouts lost to Morgan Township back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Mustangs & Fillies came out on top against the Cherokees by a score of 5-1. The game was the first time the Mustangs & Fillies have beaten the Cherokees on their field since May 5, 2021.

Billy Miller made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Miller wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ben Finney, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Kouts pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Morgan Township, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-8-1.

Kouts has already played their next match, a 5-4 loss against Jimtown on the 22nd. As for Morgan Township, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 4-3 defeat against Kankakee Valley on the 24th.
