Trojans win second Class 5A state championship in the last three years.

The high school football season in Idaho came to a close over the weekend. Rigby was among the victors, beating Highland (Pocatello) 27-12 in the Class 5A state championship game. That victory helped propel the Trojans to the No. 1 ranking in the final Idaho MaxPreps Top 25.

Rigby (11-1) was making its third consecutive title game appearance. The Trojans won in 2019 but fell 17-14 to Rocky Mountain (Meridian) last year. The program has compiled a 32-3 record over that three-year span.

Class 5A runner-up Highland finished No. 2 with Meridian, Mountain View (Meridian) and Rocky Mountain (Meridian) rounding out the top five.

Unbeaten Class 2A champion West Side (Dayton) finished No. 7 after going 11-0 and allowing just 97 points all season.
