Softball Recap: Bakersfield Takes a Loss

If Bakersfield was feeling good fresh off their 14-2 takedown of Mira Monte on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bakersfield fell just short of the Golden Valley Bulldogs by a score of 10-9 on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 last Tuesday.

Aniyah Gordon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Ryann Arnold was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-2.

Bakersfield's defeat dropped their record down to 4-7. As for Golden Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Bakersfield will be playing at home against Highland at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The game will give Bakersfield their first taste of in-conference action this season. As for Golden Valley, they will be taking part in a tournament against Ridgeview at 8:15 p.m. on Friday.
