Basketball Game Preview: Valley View Blazers vs. Greene County Tech Golden Eagles

The Valley View Blazers will face off against the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Valley View comes in on three and Greene County Tech on 18.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Valley View beat Searcy 46-40.

West Memphis typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Greene County Tech proved too difficult a challenge. They had just enough and edged the Blue Devils out 49-46. Given the Golden Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while the Blue Devils are ranked 32nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valley View better keep an eye on Jacey Edrington. She was instrumental in Greene County Tech's win, going 7-for-16 en route to 20 points. That's the most points Edrington has posted since back in March of 2024. Weslyn Burnside was another key player, putting up ten points.

Greene County Tech's victory was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 25-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.4 points over those games. As for Valley View, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Valley View suffered a grim 70-44 defeat to Greene County Tech in their previous meeting back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Greene County Tech's E'Marriha Johnson, who went 9-for-14 to rack up 23 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.
