Preview: Howard Huskies vs. Northside Eagles

Howard is 0-3 against Northside since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Howard Huskies will head out on the road to take on the Northside Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

Howard pushed their score all the way to 64 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 72-64 to Spalding. Howard has struggled against Spalding recently, as their matchup on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Northside's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their eighth straight loss. They took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Houston County. While losing is never fun, Northside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 338th, while Houston County is ranked 127th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Chastan Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Ej Riley, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.

Howard has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Northside, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-14.

Howard came up short against Northside in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 55-46. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Northside's Jordan Gaines, who scored 20 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Now that Howard knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
