Baseball Game Preview: Chichester Eagles vs. Great Valley Patriots

The Chichester Eagles will challenge the Great Valley Patriots at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

After dropping their season opener at home, Great Valley is headed out to face a Eagles squad ready to give their home crowd a win. Chichester lost 9-0 to Unionville on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Longhorns recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Cole Sanford put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases.

Sanford wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Matt Johanson, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base. Trevor Goschler was another, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Great Valley made easy work of Interboro on Monday and carried off an 18-3 win. The Patriots haven't had any issues with the Buccaneers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Phil Dupont looked comfortable as he tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.

At the plate, Brady Hounsell was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Cole Callahan, who scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Great Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .735. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Interboro only posted an OBP of .300.
