Smithville's loss ends ten-game winning streak at home

Recap: Smithville Warriors vs. Fort Osage Indians

If the Smithville Warriors were riding high off their 66-31 takedown of the South Harrison Bulldogs last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Smithville took a 57-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fort Osage on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Smithville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 359th, while Fort Osage is ranked 157th).

Loss or not, Smithville got some senior leadership from Toby Ford who scored 26 points along with six rebounds and Austin Weinzerl who scored 12 points. Ford scored a full 55.3% of Smithville's points, the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Max Mckenzie, who scored five points along with seven rebounds.

Smithville's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 1-3. As for Fort Osage, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville will square off against Savannah at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort Osage, they will head out on the road to face off against Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
