Basketball Game Preview: Grassfield Grizzlies vs. Nansemond River Warriors

The Grassfield Grizzlies will head out to challenge the Nansemond River Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Grassfield knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Nansemond River likes a good challenge.

Last Friday, Grassfield was fully in charge, breezing past Hickory 75-47. The Grizzlies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 games by 24 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Nansemond River faced King's Fork in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Nansemond River took a 51-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of King's Fork. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Nansemond River's loss dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Grassfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 15 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season.

Grassfield was taken down by Nansemond River 75-35 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Grassfield avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
