Basketball Recap: Gage Christensen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Spanish Fork over Timpanogos

Spanish Fork lost against Timpanogos back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Spanish Fork Dons took a 74-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Timpanogos Timberwolves. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while the Timberwolves are ranked 15th).

Spanish Fork lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Gage Christensen, who went 6 of 14 en route to 18 points. Another player making a difference was Andy Hernandez, who went 7 of 13 en route to 17 points.

Timpanogos got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaxen Mccuistion out in front who went 8 of 16 on his way to 28 points and eight rebounds. That's the most points Mccuistion has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Harris, who went 6 of 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 24 points.

Spanish Fork dropped their record down to 2-4 with the defeat, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Timpanogos, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Spanish Fork wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 59-45 loss against Desert Hills on the 12th. As for Timpanogos, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 74-71 victory against Stansbury on the 12th.
