Volleyball Game Preview: Xavier Hawks vs. West Bend East Suns

Xavier has gone a perfect 4-0 against West Bend East recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Hawks will look to defend their home court against the Suns at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Xavier comes in on four and West Bend East on three.

It was a Battle of the Birds when Xavier duked it out with Menasha on Thursday. The Hawks blew past the Bluejays 3-0.

Xavier never let Menasha on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-13, 25-19.

Among those leading the charge was Bella Velasquez, who had nine digs and three aces. That's the most digs she has posted over her last eight matchups.

Velasquez wasn't the only good servers: Xavier was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least ten aces in four consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and West Bend East had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against Little Chute on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory. The Suns not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 30th (when they won 3-0).

The final score came out to 25-13, 25-15, 25-19.

West Bend East's win bumped their record up to 16-22. As for Xavier, their victory bumped their record up to 27-10.

Xavier beat West Bend East 2-0 in their previous matchup back in September of 2019. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Suns turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
