Baseball Game Preview: Cox Falcons vs. Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins

The Cox Falcons will head out to take on the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Cox is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Cox had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Green Run on Thursday. The Falcons never let the Stallions get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won five contests by ten runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Cape Henry Collegiate fell victim to Hickory and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 1-0. The Dolphins' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Cape Henry Collegiate saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Colin Lebel, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Cox's victory was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-8.

Cox might still be hurting after the 9-2 loss they got from Cape Henry Collegiate in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can the Falcons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
