Basketball Game Preview: Auburn Trojans vs. Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers

The Auburn Trojans will head out to take on the Mt. Pulaski Hilltoppers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Auburn is headed into the match having just suffered their biggest loss since December 26, 2024 on Monday. They had to suffer through a 61-34 loss at the hands of Pleasant Plains. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 244th, while the Cardinals are ranked 41st).

Meanwhile, Mt. Pulaski entered their game against St. Teresa on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Mt. Pulaski fell 43-36 to St. Teresa.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 15-11. As for Mt. Pulaski, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-7.

Things could have been worse for Auburn, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 67-49 loss to Mt. Pulaski in their previous meeting back in December of 2022. Can Auburn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
