Basketball Recap: Arickaree Bison vs. Byers Bulldogs
After flying high against Lone Star last Tuesday, Arickaree came back down to earth. The Arickaree Bison took a 59-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Byers Bulldogs on Thursday. The Bison were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January of 2023.
Arickaree lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jake King, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and five assists. Dillon Noletubby was another key player, putting up ten points.
Byers' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Cameron Eastwood, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aj Engle, who had eight points in addition to six assists and five boards.
Arickaree dropped their record down to 8-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Byers, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-2.
Arickaree wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 47-38 victory against Idalia on the 31st. As for Byers, they will square off against Burlington at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. Byers knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Burlington likes a good challenge.
