Corona faced La Mirada in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. Corona walked away with an 8-3 win over La Mirada. The victory was just business as usual for the Panthers, who after 11 games remain undefeated this season.

Corona got a great performance from Jason Gerfers as he pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit. Gerfers has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Billy Carlson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Joshua Sur, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Corona's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average this season. As for La Mirada, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 10-2.

Looking ahead, Corona will face off against King at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. King's pitching crew has only allowed 4.1 runs per game this season, so Corona's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for La Mirada, they will welcome Downey at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Downey will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something La Mirada surely won't give up without a fight.
