John Paul II is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They put the hurt on Prestonwood Christian with a sharp 12-2 victory. Considering the Cardinals have won 20 matchups by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Liberty Christian never let their opponents score on Monday. They walked away with a 3-0 win over Legacy Christian Academy.

Not much got past Makenzie Byler, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Legacy Christian Academy off the board. Byler has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Liberty Christian's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Avery Combest, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Liberty Christian hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Legacy Christian Academy struck out 14 times.

John Paul II's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 25-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.1 runs on average over those games. As for Liberty Christian, their win bumped their record up to 14-5-1.

Everything went John Paul II's way against Liberty Christian when the teams last played back in April, as John Paul II made off with a 14-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
