Basketball Recap: Bob Jones Comes Up Short

If Bob Jones was riding high fresh off their 57-15 takedown of Fairfield last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Patriots fell 72-62 to the Webb Spartans on Friday. The Patriots were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.

Despite the loss, Bob Jones still got an impressive performance from Ja'Kyah Smith, who shot 50% from the field en route to 24 points in addition to six assists and five boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Watts, who posted 15 points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Bob Jones' loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Webb, the victory (which was their 16th in a row dating back to last season) raised their record to 2-0.

Coming up, Bob Jones and Sandy Creek will face off at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. As for Webb, they and Kell will face off at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday without much rest, having both just played. The Spartans will need to watch out since the Longhorns have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
