Baseball Game Preview: San Mateo Bearcats vs. Mt. Eden Monarchs

The San Mateo Bearcats will face off against the Mt. Eden Monarchs at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.

San Mateo came up short against Castro Valley on Saturday, falling 12-3. The Bearcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

San Mateo saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hayato Nishiyama, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Peter Moy also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mt. Eden, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They skirted past Moreau Catholic 4-3.

The team relied heavily on Bryan Zamora, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Cristian Alvarenga, who scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Mt. Eden's win bumped their record up to 2-5. As for San Mateo, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-3.

San Mateo was able to grind out a solid victory over Mt. Eden when the teams last played back in March of 2024, winning 5-1. Does San Mateo have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Eden turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
