Basketball Recap: Alyse Lovato Key Part of a Team Effort in Wildcats Win

Questa hadn't done well against Taos recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Questa Wildcats snuck past the Taos Tigers with a 41-36 victory. For the Wildcats, this counts as revenge for the 63-31 win the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2020.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Questa to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alyse Lovato, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Lovato has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Kamryn Cardenas was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Julianna Flores, who posted 14 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Mondragon, who put up nine points and three steals.

Questa pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Taos, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.

Questa didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-29 win against Dulce on the 11th. As for Taos, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 53-45 loss against Bernalillo on the 9th.
