Basketball Recap: Gracien Niyonzima's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Republic over KIPP Nashville Collegiate

RePublic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 21st straight loss dating back to last season. They took a hard 83-64 fall against the KIPP Nashville Collegiate Warriors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against KIPP Nashville Collegiate this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 65-55 back in January.

Several RePublic players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Gracien Niyonzima, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 19 points and five rebounds. Javeir Randall was another key player, going 5-for-8 on his way to 18 points.

Kentez Anthony continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for KIPP Nashville Collegiate, putting up 40 points. KIPP Nashville Collegiate is 4-2 when Anthony posts 15 or more points, but 7-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Kadarius Johnson, who posted 21 points.

RePublic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for KIPP Nashville Collegiate, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-15.

As of now, neither RePublic nor KIPP Nashville Collegiate have any future games scheduled.
