Football Recap: Wayne County Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Wayne County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 1-3. They came up short against the Houston County Fighting Irish, falling 39-14. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Irish apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2016.

As for Houston County, the victory got them back to even at 2-2. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 27.2 points per game.

Preston Mitchell produced another solid effort rushing for 229 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 13.5 yards per carry. He was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 56 yards.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wayne County will take on Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. This will be the Wildcats' first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Houston County, they will challenge McEwen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
