Baseball Preview: James Island Trojans vs. May River Sharks

James Island stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. Everything went their way against Bishop England as James Island made off with a 14-4 victory.

James Island got a massive performance out of Connor Dantzler, who went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Jake Amman, who scored three runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.

Meanwhile, May River came out on top against Philip Simmons on Tuesday by a score of 5-4 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game).

Micah Morgan looked comfortable as he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned run or hits (and only one walk).

At the plate, Tysen Brasington was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

James Island pushed their record up to 19-1-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for May River, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. James Island has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like May River struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
