Basketball Recap: Emmett Takes a Loss

Emmett extended their losing streak to eight on Saturday, dropping them down to 5-8. They were beaten by the Columbia Wildcats 61-32. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 79th, while the Wildcats are ranked 15th).

As for Columbia, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 9-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games.

Columbia got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Marcus DeLeon out in front who shot 71% from the field en route to 12 points and six rebounds. DeLeon is on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Keller, who went 5-for-9 on his way to 11 points.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Emmett is set to take on their familiar foe Skyview at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Columbia will challenge rival Caldwell at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
