Softball Recap: Wasatch Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Wasatch can now relate to. They fell just short of the Brighton Bengals by a score of 17-15 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wasps have suffered since March 7th.

Liana Jones was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Mckenna Olney, who went 3-for-5 with three runs.

Wasatch has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 13 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-19 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Brighton, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-13 record this season.

While Wasatch had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 1:00 p.m. on Monday.
