Softball Game Preview: Kecoughtan Warriors vs. Granby Comets

Kecoughtan is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Granby is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Warriors will welcome the Comets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Kecoughtan 1.7, Granby 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Kecoughtan is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Maury a 6-0 shutout. The Warriors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 18 contests by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Granby beat Menchville 4-0 on Tuesday.

The result came thanks to Kyrsten Wells's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anwynn Williams was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games she's played.

Granby is on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 17 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Kecoughtan, their win bumped their record up to 19-3.
