Basketball Preview: Shakopee Sabers vs. Maple Grove Crimson
The Shakopee Sabers will head out on the road to square off against the Maple Grove Crimson at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Shakopee will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Minnesota Rankings (they are ranked 122nd, while the Crimson are ranked seventh).
Last Friday, Shakopee suffered a rough 71-49 defeat at the hands of the Panthers. Shakopee has not had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Meanwhile, even though Providence Academy scored an imposing 80 points on Friday, Maple Grove still came out on top. Maple Grove managed a 86-80 victory over the Lions. The win made it back-to-back wins for Maple Grove.
Shakopee has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season. As for Maple Grove, they pushed their record up to 16-3 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Shakopee came up short against the Crimson when the teams last played back in December of 2022, falling 51-44. Can Shakopee avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
