Soccer Game Preview: South Lake vs. Springstead

The South Lake Eagles will take on the Springstead Eagles in a holiday battle at at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Last Tuesday, South Lake might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Windermere an easy 6-1 win. Things were pretty much settled by the half as the Eagles were already down 4-0.

Their goal came courtesy of Savannah Reichl, who's now up to ten this season.

Meanwhile, Springstead's game on Wednesday was all tied up 1-1 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lecanto. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Panthers are ranked 120th).

Springstead has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season. As for South Lake, their loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-7-1.
