Basketball Recap: Amon Few and Markevion Jones Secure Win for Thomson

Thomson posted their closest win since January 13, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged the Laney Wildcats out 61-59. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Bulldogs' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 262nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 86th).

Leading Thomson to victory were Markevion Jones and Amon Few. Jones posted 23 points, while Few had 17 points. Isaiah Coleman was another key player, putting up six points.

Thomson now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Laney, they moved to 10-4 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Thomson will head out to face off against Burke County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Burke County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Thomson likes a good challenge. As for Laney, they will welcome Josey at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
