Cobden is 7-1-1 against Dongola since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Appleknockers will look to defend their home field against the Demons at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cobden has four straight wins, Dongola has four straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Tuesday, Cobden made easy work of Egyptian and carried off a 15-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Appleknockers, who have now won five matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Abby Pitts made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Alivia Kilpatrick was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, five runs, and one double. Those five runs gave her a new career-high. Natalie Franklin was another key player, going 3-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Cobden kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Dongola's offense. They fell just short of Pope County by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Demons have suffered since March 28th.
Cobden pushed their record up to 8-5 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Dongola, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
Cobden beat Dongola 11-8 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Will the Appleknockers repeat their success, or do the Demons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
