Basketball Recap: The New Community School Sabers vs. Millwood Bobcats

The New Community School was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Millwood Bobcats, falling 53-32. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bobcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 58-13 last Monday.

Millwood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Griffin Aktalay out in front who almost dropped a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds. Aktalay is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last four games he's played. Ethan Hanrahan was another key player, putting up 16 points and five boards.

The New Community School's defeat dropped their record down to 0-11. As for Millwood, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

The New Community School has already played their next contest (against Fuqua), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Millwood will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on James River HomeSchool at 6:45 p.m. on February 18th.
