Basketball Recap: R.J. Reynolds Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kingston Carmichael and Andreas Kazakos

R.J. Reynolds lost against West Forsyth back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The R.J. Reynolds Demons came up short against the West Forsyth Titans, falling 76-53. While losing is never fun, the Demons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 342nd, while the Titans are ranked 25th).

R.J. Reynolds' loss came despite strong showings from Andreas Kazakos and Kingston Carmichael. Kazakos went 5 for 11 en route to 16 points, while Carmichael posted 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Elrod, who had six points.

Jacari Brim was his usual excellent self, going 10 of 19 on his way to 27 points and three steals for West Forsyth. Brim's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kamauri Manuel, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine assists.

R.J. Reynolds has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for West Forsyth, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-1.

R.J. Reynolds didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 57-51 defeat against Davie on the 17th. West Forsyth has also already played their next contest, a 59-55 loss against East Forsyth on the 15th.
