Preview: Russellville Indians vs. Fayette Falcons
Russellville is on a five-game streak of home losses, Fayette a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. The Russellville Indians will take on the Fayette Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.
Last Friday, Russellville lost to Crest Ridge/Chilhowee at home by a decisive 34-20 margin. Russellville was down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Russellville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Keaton Schrimpf, who rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and Drake Armes who rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Fayette fell victim to Father Tolton's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were outmatched by the at home and fell 56-0. While losing is never fun, Fayette can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri football rankings (they are ranked 290th, while Father Tolton is ranked 109th).
Russellville's loss dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Fayette, their loss also dropped their record down to an identical 2-7.
Russellville was dealt a bruising 46-8 defeat at the hands of Fayette when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can Russellville avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
