Basketball Recap: Dundy County-Stratton Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Abi Spargo and Kimberly Escobar

While it was all tied up 28-28 at halftime, Dundy County-Stratton was not quite Southern Valley's equal in the second half on Friday. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Southern Valley Eagles. The Tigers have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Kimberly Escobar and Abi Spargo certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Escobar went 7-for-10 en route to 21 points along with six boards and six steals, while Spargo dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 rebounds. Spargo has been hot for a while, having posted nine or more boards the last 12 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clara Spargo, who posted eight points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Dundy County-Stratton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive games.

Dundy County-Stratton's loss dropped their record down to 14-6. As for Southern Valley, their victory was their 11th straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-5.

Coming up, Dundy County-Stratton will face off against Medicine Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dundy County-Stratton is facing Medicine Valley at the right time seeing as Medicine Valley is stuck on a six-game losing streak. Southern Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
