Basketball Recap: East Carteret Comes Up Short

East Carteret played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Northside - Pinetown Panthers 65-37. The Mariners were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why East Carteret lost, don't look at Jayedon Watson. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 10 on his way to 13 points.

Northside - Pinetown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malachi Moore, who went 5 of 11 en route to 15 points and three steals. Moore has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Memphis Keech was another key player, putting up 11 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for East Carteret and nudges their season record down to 3-8. As for Northside - Pinetown, they pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home.

East Carteret didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 63-61 loss against Southside on the 29th. Northside - Pinetown has also already played their next game, a 61-42 defeat against Lejeune on the 29th.
