Tennessee high school football Top 25 rankings: Week 1

Maryville leaps into top spot after lopsided week one victory over William Blount.

High school football is off and running in Tennessee, as our the MaxPreps weekly state rankings. With a 49-7 win over William Blount, Maryville jumped one spot to take over at the top spot over previous No. 1 McCallie (Chattanooga), which was idle.

McCallie opens its season Friday night at Webb (Knoxville).

A majority of the state will play games Friday, including Alcoa, which moved up to No. 3 after a 35-7 home win over Blackman (Murfreesboro) last week.

The Tornadoes had a 7-6 lead in the third quarter but then rolled up 28 straight points to finish off a decisive victory. They travel to Austin-East (Knoxville) on Friday night.



Anderson County (Clinton) joined this week's rankings at No. 25 following a 41-6 home win over Clinton. The Mavericks (1-0) host No. 21 Powell on Thursday night.
