Basketball Recap: Echols County Takes a Loss

Echols County played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Irwin County Indians 71-37. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-17.

It was another big night for Sam Guy, who posted six points in addition to eight rebounds and six blocks for Irwin County. Guy has been hot, having posted eight or more boards the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kinyan Lewis, who put up five points along with five assists and five steals.

Echols County has traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last ten contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season. As for Irwin County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Echols County will take on Brooks County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Irwin County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clinch County at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Irwin County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.1 points per game this season.
