Basketball Game Preview: Howard Hawks vs. Tapestry Charter Titans

The Howard Hawks will head out to face off against the Tapestry Charter Titans at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Last Monday, Howard sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 57-55 victory over Varsity Opponent. The win continues a trend for the Hawks in their matchups with Varsity Opponent: they've now won five in a row.

Howard's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Keegan Roberts, who posted 20 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Roberts has scored at least a third of Howard's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Danzig, who put up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Tapestry Charter entered their tilt with Cottage on Monday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They took their matchup with ease, bagging an 85-31 win over the Cougars. The Titans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Tapestry Charter's win came from a few key players Howard will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zuri Stanback, who earned 18 points along with five rebounds and four steals. What's more, he also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in January of 2024. Kingston Willingham was another key player, putting up 20 points and seven boards.

Tapestry Charter was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Tapestry Charter's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points over those games. As for Howard, their win bumped their record up to 12-6.

Howard suffered a grim 69-48 defeat to Tapestry Charter in their previous matchup last Monday. Can Howard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
