High school football rankings: Central Catholic finishes No. 1 in final Oregon MaxPreps Top 25

Rams win second straight and sixth state title that culminated with a 44-14 over Tualatin for 6A crown.
The high school football season in Oregon came to a close over the weekend.
Central Catholic (Portland) was among the victors with an emphatic 44-14 win over Tualatin in the 6A championship. That victory helped propel the Rams to the No. 1 ranking in the final Oregon MaxPreps Top 25.
The championship looked much like all the games during the regular season and playoffs. Central Catholic (14-0) outscored opponents 673-173 overall and by an average margin of 38 in the playoffs.
According to
Oregon Live, in the title game, Oregon bound
Emar'rion Winston, a four-star linebacker, returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring. From there, the Rams got big performances from sophomore quarterback
Cru Newman who accounted for more than 350 yards and two touchdowns, and
Ellis Bynum (88 yards rushing, two touchdowns).
Central Catholic has won previous state championships in 1952, 1953, 2013, 2014 and 2019. The Rams exploded for more than 50 points five times during the season and no opponent loss by less than double digits.
