Soccer Recap: University's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Thursday

University's game on Thursday was all tied up 0-0 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They never let the Lake Brantley Patriots onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given the Cougars' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Patriots are ranked 394th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

University's one-goal win came courtesy of Hassan Hakim, who's now up to eight this season.

University's win bumped their record up to 9-1-2. As for Lake Brantley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8-2.

After both having extra time off, University and Lyman will dust off their jerseys to square off against one another at 7:30 p.m. on January 7, 2025. University is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season. As for Lake Brantley, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lake Mary at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Lake Brantley's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
