Preview: St. Francis Sharks vs. Watsonville Wildcatz
The St. Francis Sharks will head out on the road to square off against the Watsonville Wildcatz at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully St. Francis focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Thursday.
St. Francis can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak thanks to their game. They skirted past North Monterey County 58-56. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory St. Francis has posted yet this season.
It was another big night for Sam Braun, who scored 29 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Joseph Rose was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Watsonville suffered their biggest loss since December 7, 2023 on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 68-45 walloping at the hands of Alisal. While losing is never fun, Watsonville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 845th, while Alisal is ranked 413th).
St. Francis' victory ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13. As for Watsonville, their loss dropped their record down to 6-8.
St. Francis didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Watsonville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 57-53 victory. Does St. Francis have another victory up their sleeve, or will Watsonville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
