Baseball Recap: Elmwood Park Comes Up Short

Elmwood Park lost against Leonia back in April, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Lions by a score of 9-8.

Kenneth Ortiz was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, Matthew Barrios was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Leo Ramirez, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.

Elmwood Park's loss dropped their record down to 1-15-1. As for Leonia, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Elmwood Park will challenge Bergen Charter at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Leonia, they will square off against Wallington at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
