Basketball Game Preview: Leake Academy Rebels vs. Heritage Academy Patriots

Leake Academy is a perfect 10-0 against Heritage Academy since January of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Patriots at 6:30 p.m. Leake Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three contests -- so hopefully Heritage Academy likes a good challenge.

On Thursday, Leake Academy humbled Central Hinds Academy with a 70-24 victory. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 53-11.

Leake Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Sarah Prince led the charge by shooting 71% from the field on her way to 13 points. Prince is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games she's played. Kylee Boykin was another key player, putting up nine points.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Heritage Academy). They managed a 41-35 victory over Calhoun Academy on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Leake Academy's record now sits at 4-2. As for Heritage Academy, their record is now 3-1.

Leake Academy strolled past Heritage Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 56-40. Do the Rebels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Patriots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
