Preview: Lake Mills L-Cats vs. Lakeside Lutheran Warriors
Lake Mills and Lakeside Lutheran are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Lake Mills L-Cats will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Lakeside Lutheran Warriors at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Lake Mills has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,282 points over their last 17 matches.
Even though Fort Atkinson scored an imposing 63 points on Saturday, Lake Mills still came out on top. Lake Mills walked away with a 71-63 victory over Fort Atkinson. Given Lake Mills' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Fort Atkinson is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
In what's become a running theme this season, Lakeside Lutheran gave their fans yet another huge victory on Monday. Everything went their way against River Valley as Lakeside Lutheran made off with a 63-42 win. The win was familiar territory for Lakeside Lutheran who now have three in a row.
Lakeside Lutheran's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Wes Rahn led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaycee Guzman, who scored 15 points along with three steals.
Lake Mills pushed their record up to 16-1 with that win, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Lakeside Lutheran, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Lake Mills was able to grind out a solid win over Lakeside Lutheran in their previous meeting back in January, winning 69-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lake Mills since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
