Softball Recap: Sipsey Valley Bears vs. John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers

Sipsey Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Carroll Catholic Cavaliers. The Bears were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cavaliers from their previous meeting back in May of 2021.

Barkely Higginbotham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and six unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks.

On the hitting side, Katie Grace Lowery was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.

Sipsey Valley's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for John Carroll Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-11 record this season.
