Baseball Game Preview: Mountain View Lobos vs. Austin Panthers

For the second straight game, Mountain View will face off against Austin. The Lobos will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m.

Mountain View is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They put the hurt on Austin with a sharp 7-1 victory. The Lobos haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Samuel Gutierrez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two runs and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mountain View's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 9-14 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, Diego Peinado was excellent, going 3-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayden Cervantes, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base and one run.

With the defeat, Austin broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-19. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 13-15.
