Basketball Game Preview: Harding University Rams vs. West Mecklenburg Hawks

Harding University is on a three-game streak of home losses, West Mecklenburg a six-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Harding University Rams will host the West Mecklenburg Hawks at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Harding University came up into this matchup off a tough 68-point defeat on Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Hough by a score of 58-56 on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, West Mecklenburg was beaten by Mallard Creek 74-28 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 575th, while the Mavericks are ranked 148th).

West Mecklenburg's loss dropped their record down to 0-14. As for Harding University, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.

Harding University suffered a grim 62-41 defeat to West Mecklenburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Harding University was down 37-15.
