Softball Game Preview: New London Wildcats vs. Monroeville Eagles

For the second straight game, New London will face off against Monroeville. The Wildcats will welcome the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New London has given up an average of 8 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had won the previous three meetings between New London and Monroeville, and Monroeville kept the tradition alive. The Wildcats came up short against the Eagles on Monday, falling 15-5. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Eagles recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Monroeville is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for New London, their defeat dropped their record down to 15-8.

Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. New London has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Monroeville struggles in that department as they've averaged .480. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
