Basketball Game Preview: East Greenwich Avengers vs. Mt. Hope Huskies

The East Greenwich Avengers will challenge the Mt. Hope Huskies at 12:45 p.m. on Saturday. East Greenwich is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.6 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, East Greenwich earned a 51-41 victory over Rogers. The win continues a trend for the Avengers in their matchups with the Vikings: they've now won six in a row.

East Greenwich's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Rees Maccarone, who posted 17 points. The contest was Maccarone's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Stanger, who put up 14 points.

Meanwhile, Mt. Hope entered their tilt with Blackstone Valley Prep on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They walked away with a 57-48 victory over the PRIDE. That's two games straight that the Huskies have won by exactly nine points.

Mt. Hope's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.3 points over those games. As for East Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 7-11.

Everything came up roses for East Greenwich against Mt. Hope in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, as the team secured a 71-42 win. Does East Greenwich have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Hope turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
